What Do You Need to Know About Dry Eye?
Dry eye, also known as ocular surface disease, occurs when the tear film of your eye becomes unstable – either because your eyes can’t produce enough tears or because the tears they do produce are of poor quality.
Your tear film is made up of 3 layers: mucin, aqueous (water), and lipid (oil). If any of these layers are lacking, it can result in dry, irritated eyes.
